Historic Albany
Foundation Members & Friends,
HAF continues to
advocate for your historic resources, be it loudly or behind the
scenes, we do
so in the best interest of our clients:
"the historic buildings and
districts ". As such we have had major
preservation successes this year. By working with the developer
of the Wellington Row; we've been able to keep the historic streetscape
on State Street. We've completed the roof restoration at
St. Joseph's Church and will start Phase III to analyze the current
condition of the building and plan for next restoration steps.
St. Joseph's is one
such success that so many of you have helped with over this past
year and
before. HAF, in its mission to protect and preserve
the historic built environment, has been working for the past 4
years
to manage the project, raise funds and continue the
restoration
work. Through massive fundraising efforts, we have
raised very
close to $150,000. That money goes towards the church's
matching state grant and carrying costs yet does not cover HAF's
operating
costs.
That is where
memberships, contributions to our special events, and this annual
appeal come
in. Fundraising like this allows us to keep the roof
over our
heads, staff employed, the phones on and the insurance paid
for!
We thank all of you who have supported our core mission for so
many years
and continue to do so.
Please take a
moment to contribute to our 2007-2008 annual appeal or renew
your membership,
if you haven’t had a chance to do that yet. The next
time
you see us on TV or in the newspaper fighting for your neighborhood or
that
treasured historic landmark, you'll know you contributed to
that
effort in so many ways.
We're most indebted and please know that the
door is always open
to discuss
preservation
issues,
Susan Holland
