2009 BUILT

Historic Albany Foundation is seeking original artwork inspired by

Albany's architecture.

BUILT: Albany's Architecture Through Artists' Eyes art exhibit and silent

auction will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the
Cathedral of All Saints, 62 South Swan Street. A portion of the proceeds
from the reception and art sales will benefit the Foundation's Vacant
Building Initiative and Inventory.

This year’s BUILT show will be taking place within Historic Albany

Foundation’s Beverwycked Ball. This Gala event is a celebration of
Historic Albany Foundation’s 35th year of preserving, protecting, and
promoting Albany’s built environment. The art show will carry on as in
previous years during the Ball.

BUILT is part of an effort to promote awareness of Albany's built

environment and to raise funds for preservation efforts. For the past 8
years we’ve used our annual art exhibit & silent auction to highlight the
issue of vacant building in Albany. With BUILT, we extend this artistic lens not just on vacant architecture but onto Albany’s entire BUILT
environment.

While the work need not be representational, it should speak to the

buildings of Albany’s past, present & future and their impact on
Albany's built and social environments. HAF will highlight the histories of
selected buildings featured in the art.

Participating artists will receive 50% of the proceeds of any work
displayed and sold at the event; the remaining 50% will benefit Historic
Albany Foundation.

HONORARY CHAIR

The Beverwycked Ball is a celebration of Historic Albany Foundation’s
35 years of preserving, protecting, and promoting Albany’s built
environment. As such, this year’s Honorary Chair will be the 35 Pillars.
Just as a pillar supports a building, these 35 persons or groups have
supported HAF in our efforts to advocate for Albany’s historic fabric.
