2010 BUILT
Historic Albany Foundation is seeking original artwork inspired by
Albany's architecture.
BUILT: Albany's Architecture Through Artists' Eyes art exhibit and silent
auction will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2010, location TBA. A portion of the proceeds from the reception and art sales will benefit the Foundation's programming and technical services.
BUILT is part of an effort to promote awareness of Albany's built
environment and to raise funds for preservation efforts. For the past 9
years we’ve used our annual art exhibit & silent auction to highlight the
issue of vacant building in Albany. With BUILT, we extend this artistic lens not just on vacant architecture but onto Albany’s entire BUILT
environment.
While the work need not be representational, it should speak to the
buildings of Albany’s past, present & future and their impact on
Albany's built and social environments. HAF will highlight the histories of
selected buildings featured in the art.
Participating artists will receive 50% of the proceeds of any work
displayed and sold at the event; the remaining 50% will benefit Historic
Albany Foundation.
HONORARY CHAIR
BUILT is a celebration of Historic Albany Foundation’s 35 years of preserving, protecting, and promoting Albany’s built environment. As such, this year’s Honorary Chair will be announced shortly.
ARTIST ENTRY INFORMATION
To enter work in the 2010 BUILT show, applicants must read and fill out the 2010 BUILT Prospectus, Rules & Fine Print, and Entry Form, all of which can be found on the left-hand side of this page. ALL submission materials are due on Friday, September 17, 2010.
