Historic Albany Foundation hosts lectures and special events to showcase Albany's architectural heritage, as well as preservation workshops, providing technical information about historic buildings. 

Members of Historic Albany Foundation receive special invitations to Member's Only tours and events, as well as discounts on our Living Preservation Workshop Series.

Leaking Roof? Sagging Porch? Drafty Windows? Well you could get a New York State tax credit for repairs you make on your older home.
Attend this free workshop and learn about the NYS Historic Residential Properties Tax Credit Program, which will cover 20% of qualified rehabilitation costs of owner-occupied historic houses, up to a credit value of $25,000.

The primay qualifications are that the building must be listed in the State or National Register of Historic Places, or in a listed historic district, the building must be located in qualifying "distressed" census tract, and at least $5,000 must be spent on the project.  Questions about the program or to find out if your home is eligible, please contact Sloane Bullough at the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation at 518-237-8643 ext. 3252.

2007 Holiday House Tour

Get in the holiday spirit with Historic Albany Foundation’s 4th Annual Holiday House Tour. Enjoy a self-guided tour of twelve of Albany’s beautiful historic homes, each uniquely decorated for the season.  This event will take place on Sunday, December 9 from noon till 5p.m.

The tour also features, Tiffany and Lamb stained glass windows at the First Presbyterian Church, a Holiday Showcase House professionally decorated by My Favorite Things, a “Victorian Winter Wonderland” featuring a “Celebration of Trees” at the Women’s Club of Albany and open house at the Fort Orange Club. The Albany Institute of History & Art will offer free gallery admission with the purchase of a tour ticket and also host a crafts sale.

  Advance tickets will be available at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center (25 Quackenbush Square), the Lark Street BID (245 Lark Street) and at the Downtown Albany BID (522 Broadway). Tickets may also be purchased by calling Historic Albany Foundation at 518-465-0876. On the day of the event, tickets will be available at the Albany Institute of History & Art from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The cost will be $20 for members of Historic Albany Foundation and the Albany Institute of History & Art and $25 for the general public. Formerly known as VACANCY, Historic Albany Foundation has expanded their annual art exhibit to include all of Albany's architecture. With BUILT we hope to extend this artistic lens no just on vacant buildings but onto Albany's entire built environment.

Historic Albany Foundation will join September’s 1st Friday celebration, on September 7, 2007 with the presentation of Obsequi. This one-night only multimedia art installation is being curated and produced by Chip Fasciana, formerly of the Albany Underground Artists. This outstanding event is being created by Fasciana and an all-star team of exceptional local artists, including Vodstrup and Alex Chechile of iEAR studios at RPI, Laura Teeter and Melissa George of Ellen Sinopoli Dance Co., Jennifer Grainer, tag artists Pervert/Dwell and Unit, and more.

Suggested donation of $10, a percentage will go towards the continued restoration of St. Joseph's Church.
