Executive Director -- Historic Albany Foundation -- Albany, NY


DESCRIPTION

Historic Albany Foundation, a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1974 to protect and promote Albany’s rich architectural heritage, seeks to fill the position of Executive Director. Qualified candidates must have strong communication skills, knowledge of Albany and its built environment and experience with managing a not for profit organization.  The Executive Director:

  • Is the main spokesperson of the Foundation; represents the Foundation to the public; attends and speaks at community functions and meetings, hearings, and related public and private events
  • Acts as a liaison with government agencies, other preservation organizations, neighborhood groups, realtors and developers
  • Is responsible for the day to day management of the Foundation
  • Implements policies of the Board of Directors, ensuring that all provisions of the Foundation’s by-laws are enforced
  • Reports to the Board of Directors and works closely with the President, Executive Committee and Committee Chairs
  • Works closely with the Board of Directors to develop fund raising strategies to meet the Foundation’s current and future financial needs

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree and/or five years of related experience with not-for-profit administration, business management, planning and/or historic preservation advocacy fields.  Excellent communication, organizational, writing and interpersonal skills required.  In addition, the successful candidate will have experience in fundraising and development.

SALARY: $40,000 with full benefits package
