    That's Almost a Museum

    Historic Albany Parts Warehouse

    89 Lexington Ave., Albany
    465-2987

    Hours: Open noon-5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays.

Unlike many area antiques stores, where items move very slowly or not at all, the inventory at this 22-year-old outfit is always changing, but constantly reflects the community's long architectural history. While most of the gems here come from Albany's past, there are items from Cambridge in Washington County, Schoharie County and other sites reaching all the way to the northern outskirts of New York City.

In this massive open space, collectors of antiquity can explore everything from the complexities of plaster medallions to Victorian potties. Just like a museum, the warehouse provides a wealth of pleasurable, often educational surprises. Unlike a museum, you can touch everything, and take the exhibits home.
