    Historic Albany Foundation Presents 
    Preservation Merit Awards

    ALBANY, NY – October 2, 2001 – Historic Albany Foundation presented Preservation Merit Awards for the year 2001 at a reception on the grounds of the Lincoln Park Pool and Bathhouse on Tuesday, October 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
     

    HAF President Clare Yates, Board Member Mac Mowbray, Technical Services Director Bill Brandow and Executive Director Elizabeth Griffin.

    Albany Major Gerald D. Jennings accepted an award on behalf of the City of Albany, for efforts to preserve the Lincoln Park Pool and Bathhouse.

    More than 100 supporters and members attended the Historic Albany Foundation Annual Meeting and Preservation Merit Awards ceremony.

    For their work to list Historic Hook & Ladder No. 4 on the National Register of Historic Places, and for installing a new lighting scheme which highlights the building after dark, HAF honored Mayor Jennings; Captain Spiro Sokaris, Albany Fire Department; Bill Bruce, Commissioner, City Department of General Services; Bruce Shultis, Department of General Services; and Mary Connair, Delaware Area Neighborhood Association.

    State Street residents Beth & Mick Lacey were honored for extensive façade restoration on their home.

    Russ and Carol Schwartz were honored for their painstaking restoration of a once-derelict building on Hudson Avenue.

    Cheryl Lasher, a partner at Capital Design Works Inc., accepted an award for the rehabilitation of a Clinton Avenue property.

    Friends of Lincoln Park Pool received a certificate of recognition for their grassroots efforts to save one of Albany’s greatest and most-loved civic amenities -- and the location of the evening's festivities!
