HISTORIC ALBANY FOUNDATION SEEKS INVESTORS
TO REHABILITATE ABANDONED
RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN ALBANY

ALBANY, NY – Wednesday, April 7, 2004 – Historic Albany Foundation is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking proposals for the renovation and restoration of an abandoned property in Albany’s Arbor Hill neighborhood adjacent to the Ten Broeck Triangle.

The building is located at 60 Clinton Avenue, just west of Ten Broeck Street, in Albany’s Clinton Avenue Historic District. This downtown row house was constructed in about 1845 and has been vacant for several years. The building is currently owned by the Albany Community Development Agency. As part of Historic Albany Foundation’s Vacant Buildings Initiative, the Foundation intends to find an owner to save and renovate this handsome Greek Revival building.

“We’re looking for a proposal that shows an understanding of proper preservation practices, as well as a specific construction timeline and details of financial sources,” said Elizabeth Griffin, Executive Director of the Foundation. “The sale will be awarded to the best and most sound overall proposal, and will not be based on the highest offer.”

The successful applicant will pay all closing and other legal fees incurred by both the buyer and seller in full. The seller will award a $4,000 reimbursement grant to the successful bidder for stabilization work.

Access to the building can be granted by contacting Historic Albany Foundation. All applicants are strongly urged to review the full requirements of the RFP and site conditions carefully prior to forwarding a proposal. Photos and information are available on the Foundation’s web site.

All proposals must be received by Historic Albany Foundation no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday May 3, 2004. For more information, please contact Susan Olsen at Historic Albany Foundation at 518-465-0876.
