Historic Albany Foundation Announces
Preservation Merit Awards

Public Invited to Presentation Ceremony

ALBANY, NY (July 28, 2004) – Historic Albany Foundation has released its list of Preservation Merit Award winners for 2004. The awards will be presented at the recently renovated Palace Theatre on Thursday, July 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

“We are delighted to recognize the outstanding preservation efforts that make it possible for us to continue celebrating our city’s magnificent built environment,” said Elizabeth Griffin, Executive Director. “As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Historic Albany Foundation, we’re pleased to be able to hold our awards ceremony in a theatrical landmark that has been renovated with a combination of public and private funding. The spectacular Palace Theatre is a great example of the role that preservation plays in the revitalization of our neighborhoods.”

According to Jim Cohen, recently elected President of Historic Albany Foundation’s Board of Directors, “We are also pleased to recognize two individuals who have shown preservation leadership through their actions with Certificates of Merit.”

The ceremony is open to the public. Suggested donation is $10, to help defray the cost of the reception, which includes wine and hors d’oeuvres. For additional information or to make a reservation, call Historic Albany Foundation at 518-465-0876.
