As part of Historic Albany Foundation’s on-going mission to preserve Albany’s rich architectural legacy, Historic Albany Foundation gives annual awards for projects, individuals or groups that demonstrate excellence and a commitment to proper preservation techniques and initiatives. All Preservation Merit Awardees have acted as examples of best practices for preservation in Albany. Historic Albany Foundation is honored to recognize these individuals who have demonstrated a strong commitmentto Albany’s historic architecture, often in the face of serious challenges.

Call for Nominations
Each year, Historic Albany Foundation presents Preservation Merit Awards to recognize outstanding preservation efforts.

Guidelines

  • All nominated buildings must be within Albany County.
  • Projects must be completed.
  • Nominations will be judged based on the Secretary of Interior's standards for Historic Preservation.
  • Preference will be given to projects which have inspired other preservation efforts.
  • Individuals may be nominated for superlative preservation efforts or for continuing contributions.
  • Special awards may be given for circumstances which do not fall into the above categories.
