Historic Albany Foundation’s annual fall fundraiser, BUILT, promotes awareness of our community’s built environment and raises funds for preservation efforts.
BUILT: Albany’s Architecture Through Artist’s Eyes will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the NYS Museum. We are proud to demonstrate our mission through this art show and silent auction of regional artist’s work, bringing together many art mediums from some of the region’s best known artists. 2019’s event theme will be inspired by HAF’s 45th anniversary.
This year’s event committee (chaired by HAF board member and regional artist David Hinchen) is hard at work to create an event that will showcase more than 175 pieces of original artwork by over 90 regional artists, created with a wide range of materials, all linked by the theme of the region’s “Built Environment.”
Serving as jurors and judges are Tony Iadicicco, Executive Director of Albany Center Gallery; local artist Gail Hinchen, who has been a submitting artist to BUILT for many years; and Judie Gilmore, Director of the Opalka Gallery at Sage Colleges. Tony, Gail and Judie will bring their experience, expertise and talent to selecting the best pieces of art for this annual auction.
Meet our 2019 Honoree: Kevin Kuhne
This year’s Honorary Chair, artist Kevin Kuhne, embodies the spirit, passion and love of the built environment through his wonderful watercolor paintings. According to Kevin, “My interest in local history, architecture, people, and conservation inspires and motivates my work as a member of many local organizations, including the Historic Albany Foundation, Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, Pine Hollow Arboretum, and the Friends of the Normanskill Farm.” Kevin is a member the Northeast Watercolor Society, the Oakroom Artists, and has been a BUILT participant since the event’s inception.
