In the third part of HAF’s lecture series with Common Roots, Ian Stewart will explore wood identification and debunk common myths about old houses. Drawing from over twenty years in preservation, he’ll address questions such as distinguishing chestnut from pine or red oak from white oak. Participants are encouraged to bring a piece of mystery wood for discussion. The class will also cover a catalogue of prevalent old house myths that Ian has encountered throughout his career.
