Lamp re-wiring with Mo Kafka!

  • 89 Lexington Avenue Albany NY 12206 United States (map)

October 17 1:00pm-3:00pm

Learn basic rewiring methods and practices for repairing single socket table lamps. Historic Albany will provide tools, sockets, and cords. Bring your own single socket table lamp to fix (please nothing too fragile or valuable) or use one from the Parts Warehouse. Workshop leader Mo Kafka will guide you through the process. Due to capacity and safety, we will only be working with table lamps. Please do not bring wall or ceiling fixtures nor lamps that need to be converted from gas or oil.

Mo Kafka started rehabilitating old houses alongside his parents over 40 years ago and has had a career preserving period homes and as a consultant for old home owners for many years. He has kept a workshop where he refurbishes old lighting since he was first hired as a youth to assist the owner of a vintage store. He and his partner have received a Preservation Merit Award for their work on a significant historic home at risk in Albany. They have also maintained a presence at the Coxsackie Antique Center for a number of years. He holds a degree in Art History from Rutgers College, was a long time Historic Preservation Board member and has authored a number of articles and booklets on various historical sites.
